Need For Speed Could Have A New Open-World Game

TiMi Studios are looking for staff to develop a new Need for Speed online mobile game

While Criterion continues to work on the new main Need for Speed game, which is due to arrive later this year, it seems that Electronic Arts has decided to continue expanding the universe of this popular driving franchise with new partners: in this case, a job offer has revealed that TiMi Studios, responsible for Call of Duty Mobile and Pokémon Unite, is developing a new Need for Speed game in an open world, although given the speciality of this team it will be a mobile-only game.

A Reddit user noticed several job openings posted on the official website of Tencent, the company that owns the developer TiMi Studios. On the site, there are vacancies for a variety of positions in the team, from animators to designers wishing to join the studios in Shenzhen and Shanghai. The descriptions mention that it is being created in Unreal Engine 4, that it is codenamed ‘Need for Speed Online Mobile’ and that it will feature a large realistic world.

So Timi is working on an open-world Need For Speed for mobile, according to job offers (codename : Need for Speed online Mobile). The game seems to have made a good progress because it no longer appears in the 3Q21 pipeline, this most likely means it will be in testing phase soon. 2022 ? from needforspeed

Although not yet officially announced, this new Need for Speed for mobile could be gearing up to begin its testing phases (so typical for such projects) sometime in 2022, perhaps coinciding with the release of the main game, which, according to one of Electronic Arts’ latest financial reports, would have to be on the market before April 2022.

If these reports are accurate, we would be looking at a genuine revival of the Need for Speed saga, a driving franchise that has not been at its best in recent years but which could now find a good niche in the industry with the help of Criterion, the veteran team that Electronic Arts has commissioned to develop the next instalments.
