The System Shock series intends to tell the harrowing story of the Citadel station on television

System Shock has left its mark on the memory of many gamers. Its action mechanics combined with a storyline that made us reflect on the possibilities of an Artificial Intelligence marked a whole generation of users. And now, with the announcement of a TV series adaptation, these sensations will return on a different screen.

And now there is a new addition to the production team: Greg Russo, who has already been involved in the videogame film world by writing the last Mortal Kombat movie, will collaborate on the System Shock series as director, screenwriter and executive producer. Russo will work closely with Allan Ungar to bring the series to fruition.

“I’m proud to have the opportunity to work alongside the fantastic team at Binge and Nightdive Studios to bring the iconic System Shock franchise to life,” Russo said in a press release. “I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to make my directorial debut, and I’ve finally found it. On the other hand, Ungar has welcomed the new addition with open arms: “Greg is a superb and talented screenwriter who possesses an unmatched knowledge and passion for video games. His artistic approach to the story and deep understanding of the source material will undoubtedly excite fans for this new franchise”.

On the video game front, we don’t have much news surrounding the remake of System Shock. Although it has suffered major setbacks, development seems to be on track and, after releasing a gameplay last summer, it has already announced new partnerships that will help with the game’s release.
