Gears Of War Collection Could Be Released Later This Year! [VIDEO]

According to a new rumour circulating on the internet, Microsoft’s Gears of War franchise could get a collection similar to Halo.

It seems that in the case of Gears of War, Microsoft may be preparing to release another project similar to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In January, Xbox leaker Shpeshal_Nick suggested that a Master Chief Collection-like collection was in the works for one of Xbox’s top franchises but was mum on what that franchise would be. Speculation pointed to the Fable or Gears series, but a new podcast has potentially narrowed it down.

In the XboxEra podcast, Shpeshal_Nick again didn’t specify what series the collection would be about but said “everyone’s guessing” and hinted at Forza, Halo or Gears.

Halo collection has already been released; Forza, being a racing franchise, wouldn’t make much sense, leaving Gears of War.

Shpeshal_Nick thinks that this collection will be released sometime later this year and that it might be announced at the upcoming Xbox showcase event. While E3 2022 has been cancelled, Xbox will be holding a showcase on June 12, where they will make some big E3-level announcements. A Gears collection would definitely fit the bill, though fans will have to keep an eye out to see if that actually takes place.

However, some may wonder what the point of a Gears of War collection would be. In the case of The Master Chief Collection, most of the games weren’t readily available on Xbox One, especially since that was before the console launched its backwards compatibility program.

In the case of Gears, every game in the series is now playable on the latest Xbox hardware, including the Gears Tactics spin-off game and a remastered version of the original Gears of War.

Perhaps this hypothetical collection will include a Gears 2 remaster, or if fans are lucky, remasters of Gears 2 and 3, to bring the games up to the level of the original Gears of War remaster. This way, Xbox gamers can play through the full Gears experience in higher quality while waiting for more news on the inevitable Gears of War 6 after the success of Gears 5.
