Fable Reboot: Developers Has Signed Up Quite A Writer For The New Game!

Playground Games is adding a big name to the Fable development team in the form of the lead writer of Horizon Forbidden West.

Horizon Forbidden West lead writer Andrew Walsh has announced that he has joined the Playground Games Fable development team. Playground Games is best known for its work on the critically acclaimed Forza Horizon racing series, but the studio is developing its first fantasy RPG using Fable intellectual property.

Walsh announced his new position at Playground Games on Twitter, which was met with applause from developers, colleagues and Fable fans alike.

He will be the lead writer on the new reboot. He will be taking on the role he previously held on PlayStation Horizon’s Forbidden West. It will also not be Walsh’s first project for the series. He previously served as the narrative lead on Fable Legends before the game was cancelled on March 7, 2016.

Walsh is among Playground Games’ top developer hires for 2022. Xbox and Playground Games have sought talent willing to join the game’s development team for the past two years. This includes path designers, lead writers and animators. Former Control writer Anna Megill joined Playground Games in 2020. Last July, she became the narrative lead for the new Fable reboot. Megill will work closely with Walsh to ensure the game’s writing is first-rate.

Walsh is excited to be back writing about the world of Albion for the new Fable reboot, and Playground Games needed his expertise in crafting stories for big RPG titles.

Also, Playground Games needed talent who already knew the Fable series and its fantastic setting. Walsh is an excellent hire in this regard. If Playground Games decides to continue making RPGs in the future, Walsh should be available to lend his skills.

Fable is an essential opportunity for Playground Games to show that the team can develop more than just the Forza Horizon titles. 2023 is knocking on the door, and fans can expect more information about the reboot by the end of the summer. E3 2023 is the next window for a possible Fable presentation, as Xbox will hold its annual showcase.
