MOVIE NEWS – The ragtag heroes and villains of the upcoming Honor Among Thieves movie have officially become playable in the latest edition of Dungeons and Dragons.

 

 

Wizards of the Coast has just released the official Dungeons and Dragons stat blocks for the main characters in the upcoming Honor Among Thieves movie. These stat blocks are fully compatible with the 5th edition so that players can throw these characters into their own campaigns with little effort.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a forthcoming action fantasy film from Paramount Pictures, inspired by D&D.

In a strange confluence of circumstances, a team of unlikely heroes led by Edgin Darvis, played by Chris Pine, must team up to thwart the journey of Sofina the Red Wizard – the main villain of Dungeons and Dragons, played by Daisy Head – before she conquers the Sword Coast with her army of undead.

Now, Dungeons and Dragons has given players a taste of these characters’ skills, abilities and special equipment. There are seven stat blocks in total: Edgin and his companions Doric, Holga, Simon and Xenk. Plus, Hugh Grant’s devilishly charming Forge Fitzwilliam and Sofina herself. Each stat block has several fun, tasty abilities to make D&D parties more exciting.

These stat blocks also show players what to expect in the movie. Forge’s setting is neutral evil, and he can score critical hits on allies, suggesting that he will likely betray the team at some point. Sofina can call down meteors from the sky and attack nightmares, indicating that she could use such an ability.

Watching Honor Among Thieves will be worth paying attention to what we can recognise from the abilities and items listed on the stat blocks.

Some players couldn’t help but notice some oddities in the stat blocks, especially around Doric the Druid. One D&D recently released a playtest for the druid class. The new Wild Shape works drastically different from the 5th edition or Doric’s shapeshifting ability. Many players have criticised this new system. The creators may change the Druid Wild Shape to work more like Doric’s stat block. Especially if the upcoming One D&D survey gets a lot of negative feedback.
