Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the 2D Metroidvania version of Ubisoft’s classic franchise, is getting several new items, features and a story DLC as part of the newly announced post-launch roadmap. Released in January, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown wowed critics and audiences alike with its smooth, challenging platforming, satisfying 2D combat, and impeccably designed boss fights, to rave reviews and an early contender for Game of the Year 2024.

Announced as part of Ubisoft’s Summer Game Fest presentation last summer, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown surprised many fans, as the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was expected to be the title that would bring back the franchise. t into the public consciousness.

However, the Sands of Time remake still hasn’t been released due to messy development and multiple delays. TLC is great entertainment for Prince of Persia fans waiting for a revival of the 2003 classic. The game is Ubisoft Montpellier’s first major game in a while. After all, the popular Rayman studio spent the last decade with smaller titles.

Now, nearly two months after its release, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has revealed its surprise post-release plans for the remainder of 2024 on Twitter. Starting March 30, the game will get a speedrun mode with the Warrior’s Path update. Also, a permadeath mode and new clothes for the main hero of the game, Sargon. Later this spring, TLC will be adding a boss rush mode called Boss Attack. This allows players to replay every single boss battle in the game repeatedly without having to replay the entire game. The Boss Attack update will include even more Sargon outfits.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown post-release content:

  • Speedrun Mode – March 20
  • Permadeath Mode – March 20
  • Boss Rush Mode – Spring 2024
  • Divine Trials Challenges – Summer 2024
  • Story DLC – 2024
  • New Sargon Outfits
  • New Amulets

This summer, fans of The Lost Crown can look forward to the Divine Trials update, which adds new combat, puzzle and platforming challenges to the game. It is unknown if these challenges will be added to the game’s already large map. Or you can reach them through a menu. Regardless, the puzzles and platforming challenges are some of TLC’s most difficult moments. Thus, hardcore fans can expect even more such challenges this summer. Divine Trials also adds more amulets to the game, as well as more skins for Sargon. Finally, the game’s 2024 roadmap concludes with a story DLC arriving later in the year.

Since no further details have been revealed, it will be interesting to know if this DLC will take place in the new areas of Mount Qaf or if it will introduce an entirely new location.

It is surprising that a single-player 2D action platformer is getting a post-release roadmap. These are usually reserved for titles with AAA online service. For Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, fans are curious about the DLC, and Ubisoft is likely planning a proper reveal at the upcoming Summer Game Fest presentation.
