Jamie Lee Curtis Has Had a Harsh Word with Her Halloween Co-Stars, But All’s Well That Ends Well!

MOVIE NEWS – Jamie Lee Curtis reaches out to her Halloween “Scream Queen” co-stars after their disastrous meeting…

They say you shouldn’t meet your heroes because you might end up disappointed. That’s precisely what happened to Halloween franchise actresses Danielle Harris and Scout Taylor-Compton when they ran into legendary actress Jamie Lee Curtis at the premiere of Halloween Ends two years ago. The pair revealed that Curtis eventually reached out to them to make things right.

The pair have their own Halloween history, with a young Harris appearing in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. She also appeared in Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake alongside Taylor-Compton, who also appeared in the 2009 sequel. Given their shared past, Harris and Compton were looking forward to meeting Curtis. But what they told us was anything but happy. Now, two years later, Harris and Taylor-Compton have revealed that Curtis reached out to them individually, and that perhaps all could be well in Haddonfield.

Harris and Compton were joined on an episode of the Talk Scary To Me podcast by Harris and Compton, along with Harris’ Halloween 4 co-star Ellie Cornell, who played Rachel Carruthers in the fan-favourite episode and its sequel. During the conversation, Cornell asked if Harris had ever met Curtis. They then went into detail about the events of two years ago before getting to the latest development:

The Oscar-winning actress reached out to them through her daughter, who knew about the situation at the Halloween Ends premiere.

According to Harris, after hearing how upset they were when they discussed the encounter on their podcast, Curtis reached out to them a few weeks after the premiere because her daughter had heard the show and wanted to clear things up. The actress sent them both direct messages, making it clear that she didn’t mean to disrespect them by rejecting them and that she had made it clear in the past that she didn’t watch scary movies, so she wasn’t aware of their role in the franchise. Plus, she had a long press day ahead of the premiere, so Curtis was exhausted. She asked about Harris’s kids and got their addresses so she could send over some children’s books. Harris also said that Curtis autographed the books, and not just with her name, but with very special drawings and phrases for the kids. Ultimately, Harris’s perception of Curtis changed because “she extended the olive branch.” They start talking about the experience about six minutes into the last episode of the podcast.

Danielle Harris and Scout Taylor-Compton are honest about their first meeting with Jamie Lee Curtis

For those who may not remember: Harris and Compton got very candid about their negative interactions with the star at the Halloween Ends premiere. After the film’s screening, the pair went to an after-party, where they intended to use the event as a chance to finally introduce themselves to Curtis. After Harris approached Curtis and explained that she was playing her daughter in one of the sequels, the actress bluntly declared, “I’ve never seen those movies, I don’t know who you are.”

Compton’s exchange with Curtis was similar, but she didn’t know that Harris had already met the veteran actress. The Halloween remake star wanted to share with Curtis that she was honoured to play Laurie Strode in the reboot, the role that launched Curtis’s film career. Compton wouldn’t give specifics at the time about how the encounter went, but after she started crying, she said, “We just left [the party] feeling very, very hurt.”

It turns out that Curtis didn’t mean to be rude; she was just really tired after a long day of press conferences about her final battle with Michael Myers. Harris and Compton had considered this possibility when they first detailed their initial meeting. At the time, they said that despite their experiences, she deserved the love of the fans, and they were quite mature about it. It’s nice to see them extend an olive branch and get a better impression of someone they clearly admire a lot.
