Marvel Rivals launched its first season recently, introducing a three-month phase dedicated to the Fantastic Four. Dubbed Marvel’s “First Family,” this iconic group is making its long-awaited return, just in time for their upcoming MCU film hitting theaters this summer.
As of now, however, players can only access two out of the four team members in the NetEase-developed hero shooter. So when will fans see the Human Torch and The Thing join the roster? According to the game’s director, we have a rough idea. Guangyun Chen, the game director, hinted in an interview with Metro that the two heroes are expected to debut on February 21. Each season in Marvel Rivals spans 12 weeks, with new heroes typically arriving around the halfway point. Since Season 1 began on January 10, this timeline places their arrival near late February. However, Chen noted that delays are always possible, so fans should be prepared for a slight wait.
What Are the Abilities of the Human Torch and The Thing in Marvel Rivals?
The leaked abilities for both characters hint at exciting gameplay opportunities. The Human Torch is designed as a long-range attacker, wielding moves such as “Fire Cluster” and “Supernova,” the latter creating devastating fire tornadoes to damage enemies across an area. On the other hand, The Thing takes on a tank role, with skills like “Combination Punch” for rapid strikes and “Slam Moment,” an ultimate ability that launches nearby foes into the air. He also features a “Battlefield Support” skill that shields and protects teammates. While these abilities sound promising, they remain unconfirmed and should be treated as speculative for now.
The anticipation around these new arrivals has already generated excitement among players, who are currently enjoying the return of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. Once The Human Torch and The Thing are introduced, the Fantastic Four roster will be complete, allowing fans to relive epic battles in Marvel Rivals. Meanwhile, NetEase is continuously working on game updates to keep the experience fresh and engaging for players.
