Sid Meier’s Civilization VII: What to Expect After Firaxis Launches the Game

The strategy game will be updated through 2025 with both free and paid content.

 

Take-Two (2K) has announced how Civilization VII will be expanded post-launch.Two paid DLCs and two free updates will be released by September 2025, with additional content to follow.The two paid DLCs are Crossroads of the World and Right to Rule.Both DLCs will introduce new civilizations, leaders, and natural wonders.Crossroads of the World will arrive shortly after the base game launches in March, but only partially. Early March will bring a new playable leader, Victorian-era mathematician Ada Lovelace, and four natural wonders.In addition, Carthage and Great Britain will become playable civilizations.

The rest of the DLC will arrive a few weeks later. Simon Bolivar (South American revolutionary) will appear, and Bulgaria and Nepal will become playable.

The Right to Rule DLC will arrive sometime between April and September (they could have been more specific). The content of this DLC hasn’t been detailed yet, but we know that we’ll get two new leaders, four new civilizations, and four new wonders. Every time there is a paid DLC, there is also free content. With the first part of Crossroads of the World, there will be an event called Natural Wonder Battle next to a natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle. With the second half of the DLC, Mount Everest will be the new Natural Wonder and the Marvelous Mountains event will be added. There is no information yet on the free content that will come with Right to Rule.

The release of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is just around the corner, Firaxis’ game will be released on February 11 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Linux and Mac. Those who purchase the more expensive (Deluxe/Founders Edition) will be able to play from February 6th.
