PlayStation Plus: A Surprisingly Thin March Extra/Premium Update!

The list that Sony is releasing for players subscribing to the two more expensive tiers of PlayStation Plus is getting shorter and shorter…

Updates to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (available to PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers) and the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog (available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers only) are due next week, and there are surprisingly few games named. Twelve. Of those, one is a VR title and three were originally released on the PS1. That’s surprisingly few indeed, but let’s take a look at what they are.

The following games have been added to the PlayStation Plus game catalog: Arcade Paradise (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Bang-On Balls: Chronicles (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (PlayStation 4), Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation Code Fairy (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Syberia: The World Before (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), UFC 5 (PlayStation 5) and You Suck at Parking (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4). There’s one PlayStation VR2 title, Arcade Paradise VR. Finally, there are three titles in the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog: Armored Core (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Armored Core: Project Phantasma (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Armored Core: Master of Arena (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4). All three games were originally released on PS1.

This is one of the thinnest updates we have ever seen. Even Xbox Game Pass can beat it (and there are often recurring titles there), and it’s something Microsoft usually announces in twice-monthly posts. And as always, we would like to point out that Sony is lagging behind its rivals in terms of transparency, since the “Blues” still do not publish on their website the titles that leave the service, while Microsoft always does. Sony could improve this position.

This update will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on March 18.
