Perhaps a remake of Bethesda’s game on Unreal Engine 5 could follow the likes of Hi-Fi Rush or Ninja Gaiden II Black.
In January, a report from MP1st sparked rumors of a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. We first heard about the project two years ago, when the name appeared in documents related to a lawsuit between the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Microsoft. At the time, we learned that Virtuos was working on a remake of the 2006 game using Unreal Engine 5. The studio had previously worked on Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds: The Spacer’s Choice Edition, and also helped Konami with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.
At the time, we were told that the remake would include improvements in six key areas: visuals, stamina, stealth, defense, archery, hit reactions, and HUD. Blocking was said to be inspired by Souls clones and other modern action games. Stealth has been enhanced and the wounding formula has been tweaked. The stamina system has been changed to be less frustrating. It’s less common to collapse from zero stamina. The interface has been modified to make it more accessible and visually interesting. The introduction of hit reactions will improve the response to damage from player characters and non-playable characters (NPCs). Archery may be smoother in both first and third-person perspective.
Either this month or next month. Release is likely to be sooner than the original June target; but still working to get details on an updated release date.

Now, an insider, NateTheHate, has tweeted that he thinks Bethesda could announce a remake of Oblivion later this month, possibly in April, with a release coming soon after. The leaker said that they had previously planned for June, but that it could be even earlier. This was later confirmed by VGC, and they also think an April release is a possibility. And then they could announce it quietly during an Xbox Games Showcase broadcast…
By the way, if the remake is indeed coming soon, it will be competing with the fan project Skyblivion, which will bring Oblivion to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim engine and will also be released this year!
