Phil Spencer: There Could Be a Sequel to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle!

MachineGames’ game may not only get DLC, but a sequel, as the Xbox boss has hinted.

In a wide-ranging interview with Variety, Phil Spencer also talked about the success of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which was released for Xbox Series and PC in December and PlayStation 5 this week (the interview was conducted before that!). Speaking of the PlayStation 5, we recently reported in the news how great the game looks on the PlayStation 5 Pro, although the path tracing visual effect still gives a more muscular visual on PC, and we still have to say that the game is designed for the machines of the future, as it’s still difficult to run today on maximum settings at 4K resolution.

In the interview, Spencer apparently hinted at the possibility of a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but also made it clear that he would like Microsoft-owned studios to work primarily on their own franchises (and Indiana Jones is clearly not one, as it is licensed by Disney through Lucasfilm Games).

“I will say that we are very happy with Indy and the players and the reception. We think there’s life in the franchise, and I’ll leave it at that. We’ll be coming to PlayStation pretty soon. I think that’s going to be a cool moment. I was inspired by MachineGames taking someone else’s IP and doing something so unique, and I’m inspired by what that team can do next. Certain people have kind of pushed them on first person versus third person. And I think once you play it, you realize you are Indy. But going forward, I also want to give the teams the ability to make our own games and our own franchises. We have a lot of room to tell new stories. And I want to make sure that’s an option for us,” Spencer said.

The question is what will happen with Wolfenstein III, as MachineGames is not there yet.
