A crowded Marvel Rivals fight can resemble a comic-book convention detonating at once. Shields, control fields, projectiles, and ultimate attacks compete for the same screen until tactics vanish beneath the spectacle. NetEase has acknowledged that the presentation became too aggressive and has reduced numerous effects in its latest update.
The goal is not to drain the game of its vivid identity. The studio wants players to separate urgent threats from decorative flashes without losing Marvel’s exaggerated style. Much of the cleanup focuses on Team-Up powers expanded around Season 9, since those combined attacks often became indistinguishable during a six-on-six clash.
Jubilee’s fireworks no longer swallow the arena
Jubilee’s standard abilities received a broad visual reduction, while most newer Team-Up moves were adjusted too. NetEase did not publish every VFX alteration, but called the list extensive and promised to keep monitoring readability as more characters and cooperative powers join the roster.

The result is subtle rather than transformative. When several heroes unleash their strongest moves together, the screen can still become a wall of color. Jubilee is less likely to dominate everyone’s view, however making this patch a useful opening step toward combat that rewards awareness instead of lucky button presses.
New heroes and premium skins keep adding visual noise
Marvel Rivals’ expanding cast makes clarity harder to protect. Every arrival brings another palette, projectile language, area marker, and ultimate animation. Premium costumes complicate matters by replacing familiar effects with exclusive VFX. A flourish that looks impressive in a trailer may become misleading when twelve heroes attack around one objective.
The busy interface and detailed maps add another layer. On some battlegrounds, scenery can resemble an ability warning at a glance, delaying the reaction that decides a duel. Marvel Rivals will probably never look restrained, and its flamboyant excess is part of the appeal. Regular visual audits can still stop that energy from drowning out positioning, decisions, and mechanical skill in ranked encounters.
