The Second Story DLC for Borderlands 4 Launches in Three Weeks [VIDEO]

Gearbox and 2K (Take-Two) revealed more details about the story DLC, FL4K and the Last Resort. A free update will also be released alongside it.

The tropical resort on the remote island of Providence, which was built for the Timekeeper’s chosen and is located next to a majestic volcano, is about to become a war zone. The Tediore Corporation is looking to secure the island’s precious Ordonite resource and has sent an expeditionary group led by five elite managers who serve the ruthless Lieutenant Harmony. Players will team up with FL4K, a formidable beastmaster returning from Borderlands 3, to rescue their loyal skag companion, Mr. Chew, and teach the Tediore Corporation a brutal lesson. The island is crawling with Tediore troops, including exo-suit soldiers who continue to fight even after their fleshy centers are destroyed and hulking mechs with various weapon attachments that can strengthen their allies and summon reinforcements. Eliminating Tediore’s grunts, colossal war machines, and elite managers will give players their shot at taking on Lt. Harmony. Reaching her will be a challenge in itself because Tediore has converted the volcano on Providence into a bunker and base of operations. The volcano is still active and can spew Ordonite-infused lava and molten rocks that spawn minibosses across the island.

Verticality is a core aspect of Providence’s design, enhanced by ziplines, a new type of mobility. Players can traverse the treetops of Providence’s jungle high above the ground by grappling onto these ziplines. They can use the ziplines to reach new vantage points or gain the upper hand in combat. Another activity exclusive to Providence is uploading to Tediore’s Digiverse servers and battling waves of enemies before they can materialize in the physical world. Those who survive Providence’s treacherous wilds and the legion of Tediore troops occupying them can earn incredibly powerful new loot, including two Pearlescent weapons and 18 pieces of Legendary gear.

Players can explore the lush jungles of Providence as Loveless the Hacker, the second new Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 4. She is an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless shares her mind with a digital virus of her own creation that can digestruct into a physical form acting as a deadly extension of her perfection-seeking will. Loveless the Hacker and her cosmetics will be available for individual purchase, separate from the Story Pack 2 narrative content, map zone, and missions. A deeper look into Loveless gameplay is coming soon, as she will have her own dedicated episode of the Gearbox DevCast, which will go live on September 3.

The arrival of the Elpis moon changed Kairos forever, and now the planet is showing signs of completely falling apart. Using her Siren powers and attunement to Phase energies, Amara has identified a potential cause of the instability: one of Vile Lictor’s old laboratories where dormant Order Synths once served him. Players team up with Amara to track down the Phase disturbances and stop them from propagating before they unravel the known universe. This new mission gives players a chance to revisit Elpis and the Phase dimension that connects all Sirens. These are both key elements of the overall Borderlands 4 story. Additionally, Bounty Pack 5 delves deeper into the lore of Sirens and their vital place in the Borderlands universe. In this pack, Amara grapples with the possibility that her connection to the Phase has been permanently severed.

Completing the mission unlocks a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a vehicle, and an ECHO-4 drone skin. Players can also take on a new boss, two new minibosses, and new Vile enemy types to earn a new pearlescent weapon and six new pieces of legendary loot. Bounty Pack 5 is available to purchase separately. Amara and the Vile Shadows, a narrative-focused piece of content. Bounty Pack 5: Vault Card 5 lets players earn new space-age rewards through gameplay. There are 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear to unlock. Story Pack 2 (Loveless the Hacker) and Bounty Pack 5 will arrive on September 10 as part of the 1.10 update. The update will increase the maximum level cap by 10 levels for all Borderlands 4 players.

Also on September 10, players will be able to purchase individual parts of Story Pack 1 and Bounty Pack 2 DLC. Previously, this was only available for DLC starting with Bounty Pack 3. As part of this change, players who own either Story Pack 1 or Bounty Pack 2 on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series will need to navigate to the storefront on their platform and redownload the content starting on September 10. This is because the contents of these downloadable packs are now available for purchase separately on consoles.

Grabbing controllers since the middle of the nineties. Mostly he has no idea what he does - and he loves Diablo III. (Not.)
