18 Minutes of Deeper Insight into Silent Hill: Townfall [VIDEO]

The game’s soundtrack will likely make the biggest first impression on audiences, but the game has plenty to offer in other areas as well.

After the releases of Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill: F, Konami’s survival horror series has finally returned to the spotlight after many years. The revival continues next month with Silent Hill: Townfall, a first-person game that promises all the elements the series is known for, set in the franchise’s first installment in Europe. Konami, the game’s publisher, along with Annapurna Interactive and developer Screen Burn Interactive, have released a new video that serves more as a showcase. The 18-minute clip showcases the game’s eerie visuals and how Simon will explore the fog-shrouded island of St. Amelia to set things right.

The atmosphere looks top-notch, and the combat looks quite satisfying, even if it plays out in a fairly straightforward manner, which is a definite plus for a game that clearly doesn’t focus as much on combat as Silent Hill: Townfall promises stunning visuals, this new trailer highlights just how important music is in a horror game, the success of which depends entirely on its atmosphere. Although Silent Hill F also featured compositions by the series’ longtime composer, Akira Yamaoka, this new installment appears to surpass its predecessor, even without his involvement. The music and sound effects in the trailer greatly enhance the experience.

Fortunately, fans of the series won’t have to wait much longer to join Simon on his journey to St. Amelia Island, as Silent Hill: Townfall arrives on September 24 for PlayStation 5 and PC. Let’s just hope our wallets can hold up because Control: Resonant is also set to release then. It’s no coincidence that we’re suggesting it might be a good idea to call September a “grinder,” considering everything that’s coming.
