TECH NEWS – With the start of the school year, devices that make note-taking, studying, and everyday work easier are once again coming to the forefront for many people.

Huawei’s new tablet, the HUAWEI MatePad Air, combines easy portability with an advanced anti-glare, paper-like OLED PaperMatte display and productivity-focused features, supporting studying, work, and creative tasks alike.

Lightweight Construction, Thoughtful Design

During the development of the HUAWEI MatePad Air, Huawei’s engineers used a new OLED panel architecture that enables a simpler internal design. The display connects directly to the device’s body, allowing the tablet’s thickness and weight to be reduced without compromising structural stability.

As a result, the HUAWEI MatePad Air is only 5.3 millimeters thin and weighs 509 grams, making it easy to carry in everyday use. The metal body’s special surface treatment gives the device an elegant appearance, producing subtle pearlescent shades as light falls on it. The tablet will be available in Airy Blue, Sakura Pink, and White.

OLED PaperMatte Display for a More Comfortable Visual Experience

The HUAWEI MatePad Air uses Huawei’s enhanced PaperMatte display technology. The 12-inch, 2.8K OLED PaperMatte display is manufactured using a high-precision nanoscale etching process that reduces glare and distracting reflections while preserving a paper-like writing and touch experience.

With peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits, outstanding contrast, and a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, the display delivers vivid colors, deep blacks, and smooth visuals. The screen almost completely fills the front of the device, while the exceptionally narrow bezels provide an even more immersive visual experience whether reading, taking notes, watching videos, or drawing.

Designed for Work and Creative Tasks

When paired with the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro stylus and Smart Magnetic Keyboard, the tablet provides a direct transition between handwritten note-taking, document editing, and digital content creation. The tablet comes with the manufacturer’s own software: HUAWEI Notes helps support structured notes and efficient workflows, while the GoPaint application assists in turning creative ideas into reality quickly and precisely.

Six-Speaker Audio System for Multimedia

The multimedia experience is complemented by a six-speaker audio system using a quadruple woofer unit. Huawei’s proprietary ultra-thin speaker module allows the slim device to deliver richer bass, clear voices, and balanced sound for watching movies, listening to music, or making video calls.

Availability

The HUAWEI MatePad Air is available from August 25 through Huawei’s official sales channels and selected retail partners. The device’s recommended retail price is HUF 339,990.
