Crysis Remastered: Software-based Ray-tracing And System Requirements [VIDEO]

After a delay, Crysis Remastered arrives, which is also said to be capable of a great software Ray-Tracing solution for PS4 Pro / Xbox One X. Plus we also know the System Requirements for PC.

Crysis Remastered is late, but it will finally arrive this month, and although we’ve already seen encouraging sequences of images from the game on PC, we still don’t know what’s going on with the consoles, the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions. Well, thankfully, Digital Foundry recently visited Crytek and they were able to try out the unreleased Crysis Remastered console versions as well. (The game has already been released for the Nintendo Switch). DF’s video mostly shows the Crytek visit to the offices, but there’s also scattered Crysis Remastered material, plus it’s recorded on Xbox One X in Ray-tracing mode.

Digital Foundry promises to tell us more about Crysis Remastered soon, but in the meantime, they can confirm that the Xbox One X version of the game will run in three display modes – 4K / 30 FPS mode for an improved experience, 1080p for better performance, and in ray tracing mode for a little taste of next-gen.

So it looks like the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro versions will know the software ray-tracing solution programmed into Crysis Remastered. Of course, the question arises, how useful will it be? Well, it looks like Crytek’s current generation ray-tracing solution will be better than we would expect. Digital Foundry has gone so far as to say “it works to often spectacular effect” and that “the performance is also good”. Scenes from the Xbox One in the video theoretically run in ray-tracing mode, so the performance seems particularly good, though it’s also true that there’s perhaps still room for improvement in solutions like this visually. Um, maybe the DF team just didn’t choose from the best video footage?

Crysis Remastered would have originally been released back in July, but fans didn’t respond very well (to put it mildly) to the game’s early images and trailer. To avoid a storm, Crytek withdrew his game for a little more polishing.

Crysis Remastered will arrive on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on September 18th. As mentioned, the game is now available for the Nintendo Switch, though obviously not as spectacular technically as its future console counterparts.

Anyway, since the announcement of Crysis Remastered in mid-April, the old question has come up within certain PC gamer circles again: “Will my computer be able to run Crysis?” Well, the question has been answered. Crytek confirmed the minimum and recommended system requirements for the game through the Epic Games Store, and although the minimum requirements were slightly higher than usual, the recommended system requirements did not become too severe. (Of course, it’s always a matter of perspective.)

Minimum requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-Bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-3450 / AMD Ryzen 3
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 TI / AMD Radeon 470
  • Video memory: 4 GB for 1080p
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 20 GB

Recommended requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-Bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-7600k or better / AMD Ryzen 5 or better
  • Memory: 12 GB RAM
  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 TI / AMD Radeon Vega 56
  • Video memory: 8 GB for 4K
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 20 GB

So now you know the answer to your question, dear PC reader. If your machine falls within these parameters, as usual, you will have no problem running the game. And if you still have trouble… Maybe you should prepare for the new generation and admire the impressive power of the Nvidia 3000 series, especially the miraculous GeForce 3090, which promises to be capable of 8K at 60 FPS.
