Returnal’s PC release date is imminent, and the game will include a host of PC-centric features and ray-tracing enhancements.

Housemarque’s acclaimed third-person roguelike shooter Returnal finally has a PC release date! If all goes according to plan, the game will arrive on February 15, 2023. In a PlayStation Blog post, Housemarque also revealed the finalised system requirements for the game.

The PC port of Returnal has been an open secret for PlayStation Studios and Housemarque for the past few months.

Today’s PlayStation Blog post focused on the PC port of Returnal. It was announced that the game would be released on Steam and the Epic Games Store on February 15. Fans can expect both Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR upscaling solution to boost performance. Also, Nvidia NIS support for those who can’t run DLSS or FSR. The game’s ray-tracing feature set now also includes ray-traced reflections on PC.
Additionally, it supports 21:9 and 32:9 ultra-wide resolutions. Other features include 3D ray-traced sound using proprietary 3D sound solutions or Dolby Atmos. The port will also include full DualSense support on PC.

Additionally, Housemarque has updated the original system requirements with “Epic” and “Ray Tracing” configurations. To play Returns at full 4K 60fps, PC gamers will need an Nvidia RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 XT. Plus, paired with an Intel i7-9700K or Ryzen 7 3700X processor. For streaming at 4K 60fps, enthusiasts will need an RTX 3080 Ti or Radeon RX 6950 XT paired with an Intel i9-11900K or Ryzen 9 5900X.

PC gamers can look back on a year full of big ports from PlayStation Studios, and it looks like 2023 will keep that momentum going.

Next month sees the long-awaited Returnal arrive on PC. Shortly after, the critically acclaimed The Last of Us Part I will also be released in March. Notably, both games are PS5-exclusive. So far, PC has seen chiefly ports of the biggest PS4 games. PS5 titles have been held back until now. Hopefully, 2023 will be the year Sony decides it’s time to port previous PS5 exclusives.
