Naughy Dog had plans after releasing Jak 3 back in 2004 – sure, they began working on Uncharted’s first game, but they also were concepting to continue Jak & Daxter with a fourth episode, which eventually never happened. Why didn’t it end up as a game? Probably Naughty Dog didn’t want to continue with the series, which got more and more dark as the episodes went by – they really have derailed from the friendly, cartoony look of the first game…
The concept arts were presented on the exhibition held for celebrating the 30th birthday of Naughty Dog, but thanks to Scribble Art Studios, who work in concept art creation, have published these online too. The anniversary also sees the release of an art book, and a few images have leaked prematurely out of this book as well.
It seems to us that Naughty Dog will not return to their former series (Crash Bandicoot would be the other one, which was originally a PlayStation-exclusive series), nobody knows what they end up doing after releasing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End next year. Maybe Sony will ask them to go back to one of their franchises, maybe not. We’ll see.
