Xbox One X: Record Setting Pre-Ordering, But What About Exclusive Content?

Good news on one side, and risks on the other.

Microsoft’s statement says that the Xbox One X is now the fastest pre-ordered Xbox, despite the Project Scorpio Edition popping up less than a week ago (the normal version can be pre-ordered later), and most countries have run out of stock.

GameStop’s latest financial earnings call says that they see underperforming in the Xbox One vs. PlayStation 4 rivalry, which could be because of the Xbox One X showing up (what about the PlayStation 4 Pro, though?).

However, the thing that might turn the interest off for some is Mike Ybarra‘s comment. The Vice President of Xbox and Windows told the following to VG247 regarding exclusive content on the Xbox One X: „I think largely we want to empower the developer to make the choices for themselves. There will be a premise of look; games have to run on both. Of course, X is going to have better visuals, maybe a higher frame rate… It’s up to the developer. It depends on what they want to do. There’s the risk: Sony doesn’t allow separation between the PlayStation 4 Slim and the PlayStation 4 Pro to provide an equal experience (or at least content) for the two console versions. Microsoft might not follow this route, going by Ybarra’s comment.
