A Copyright Company „Holds Hostage” A YouTube Channel! [VIDEO]

James „Jameskii” Swire’s channel is held hostage by a company.

James wrote the following on his Twitter: „CollabDRM just gave me a copyright strike on my YouTube video because of a “videoclip”. This is not a joke this is what they said in the reason for the strike. These criminals were holding me hostage with 4 claims for half a month. I don’t know why do I even bother at this point.” The video had him review clips from a mobile app named Tik Tok.

He has 1.4 million subscribers mostly via his VRChat videos, and a company named Collab causes him trouble. (This company showed up in Hungary in early 2012 – one of our editors got partnered with them via a subsidiary named GoPotatoTV.) Collab rejected all claims, earning Jameskii a second copyright strike (disabling live streaming, limiting monetisation, as well as uploading videos), but it’s not an issue as another copyright strike about a non-Collab video got meanwhile cleared up. He started using the #SaveJameskii hashtag.

„Co-founder of Collab is assuring me that “your channel is in no real danger” offering me to either pay them or let them continue using the claim tool without giving any specifics in the claims. „Buy a solution to a problem that didn’t exist before or get harmed,” he added late.

Meanwhile, Collab‘s Twitter hasn’t been updated for days, which means there could be trouble in the company. Still, YouTube hasn’t been good for several years due to copyright and community guidelines strikes. (One of our editors here brought up that he got two community guidelines strikes for leaving a video downloading software link in his streamer montage descriptions for a few videos. He edited the videos with permission and left the link in there to circumvent geoblocking. He tried disputing them, but they got withheld as the videos were against YouTube’s TOS, even though it was only the descriptions, not the videos as they never said a word about downloading. Meanwhile, YouTube Premium’s monthly subscription service promotes VIDEO DOWNLOADING, but it’s not available in Hungary, and for PC in general…)
