Cyberpunk 2077: From The Lack Of A Morale System To E3 Graphical Settings

Multiple mediums cover CD Projekt RED’s game after E3, too.

Let’s start by how Cyberpunk 2077 ran at the E3: „Ray Tracing was on [in the demo]. We were showing off Ray Traced Emissives, Sky Light, and Ambient Occlusion. However, I’ve seen super impressive screenshots internally about raytracing (they get sent out in a digest e-mail), so we’re clearly still working on it as they looked more impressive than what I remember seeing in the demo. Especially at night and with neon reflections. NVIDIA also has representatives and work with our studio to continue to improve and utilize this technology, similar to The Witcher 3 and Hairworks,” Alvin Liu told WCCFTech.

What settings were used for the game? „The game was running on Ultra, but we are continuing to improve our visuals. The game demo was running at 1080p, but our trailers and publically released assets are at 4K. The UI is designed mostly at 4K (eventually it will entirely be at 4K native), but we have the technology to swap assets and do intelligent scaling to handle 1080p, widescreen, 720p, 1440p, and so on. We can also design specific UI at 1080p and other resolutions, on a need by need basis, such as on a screen or graphics with heavy icons that might look bad otherwise,” Liu added. So they used an Nvidia RTX graphics card for the demo… oh, and the PC specs they used: an i7-8700K on a ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I Gaming motherboard, 2×16 GB DDR4 3000 CL15 memory, a Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB SSD, and a Titan RTX VGA…

On Reddit, a Twitter DM screencap was shared, where the user talked with Pawel Sasko, the lead quest designer. Thus, we learned that Cyberpunk 2077 will likely get a New Game+ mode: „…that is something that we are still working on. So it may change in time, as we are looking for the best formula for the game. Most likely, it won’t be possible to max out everything on one playthrough, as it would have little sense to have a game that is about replayability and choices, while in the same time allow the players to max out all the stats on the first run…” That makes sense.

Another user did the same thing, which confirmed more romance options than in The Witcher 3: „Romancing is something heavily present in Cyberpunk, and players will be able to form meaningful connections with other characters as well as go for one night stands. Since we’re not bound by a predefined character like in The Witcher anymore, the game will feature romance options going beyond heterosexual.”

About the moral system, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz commented to GamingBolt: „We don’t have a moral system per se. To complete it non-lethally you have to be very good at stealth. Invest in points that allow you to stealth better, use weapons that will allow you to incapacitate the enemy instead of killing them, to make the moral choices that will allow you to avoid killing people throughout the game.”

Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on April 16 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
