New Battlefield 2042 Trailer – Showing Off The Specialists

The Battlefield 2042 trailers are seems to be starting off early in September, and our first one is with a bit of a quick look at The Specialists

The Specialists are based on the four classes of Battlefield: Assault, Support, Engineer and Recon. Each Specialist has a unique item, and a unique trait, but the loadouts can be customized
Here are the four specialists revealed in the trailer:

Webster Mackay comes from the Canadian military and is a part of the Assault class. He has a Grappling hook that he can use to get to different areas quicker. Mackay has a special skill called Nimble Trait, which allows him to move more quickly when aiming down sights.

Mary Falck served in the German army for six years and is a combat medic, based on Battlefield’s Support class. She has a S21 Syrette Pistol, which fires syringes that heal allies and damage enemies. She can use shock pads to revive fallen allies to full health.

Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky is a Russian engineer and a weapons expert. He has  a SG-36 Sentry that automatically spots and shoots at enemies within a certain radius. Once the sentry gun locks onto a target, the character also becomes aware of the enemy’s position as well.

Lastly, Wikus “Casper” Van Daele is from South Africa and part of the Recon class. His OV-P Recon Drone can spot moving targets and use ab EMP blast to disorient them. Furthermore, he has a Movement Sensor that alerts him to approaching enemies, making it difficult for the enemies to sneak up on him while on the ground or when piloting a drone.

With these specialists DICE seems to be moving closer to a Rainbow Six siege type of  specialists, except that you can have more than one Specialist on the map, which might be a bit weird for players especially if there are 128 Players per map on the next generational consoles. We shall see how it feels in the final product.

Battlefield 2042 will be out on the 22nd of October 2021 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – be ready for our review when the game comes out.
