Crystal Dynamics joins the development of Perfect Dark

The Canadian company will continue the development of Marvel’s Avengers alongside Perfect Dark and Tomb Raider. Let’s hope they have enough energy for all three projects!

A few hours ago, The Initiative made the surprise announcement that Crystal Dynamics had signed a deal to work on the development of the new Perfect Dark, which may have raised doubts about the future of the new Tomb Raider. But there is nothing to worry about. The Canadian team soon responded to the rumours on social media to reassure everyone: they are still working on a new instalment of the veteran franchise.

“We’re thrilled to add Perfect Dark to our development efforts alongside Marvel’s Avengers and Tomb Raider,” they wrote on Twitter, making it clear that the company has no intention of abandoning the Lara Croft saga.

If you’ve been following the news about the new instalment, it was unofficially confirmed earlier this year that Square Enix studio bosses hinted at plans to merge the timelines of the action-adventure game series. However, they also confirmed that news on the game would be a long time coming. “Given the extensive history of Tomb Raider, this is not an easy task, and we ask for patience as development continues,” they said at the time.
