Psychonauts 2 Wins The GOTY Award At The Fun & Serious Game Festival’s Titanium Awards 2021

In addition to Psychonauts 2, It Takes Two, Deathloop and Metroid Dread also had a great showing at Bilbao’s Fun & Serious Game video game festival.

This year, Double Fine’s latest game Psychonauts 2 won the Titanium Game of the Year Award at one of Spain’s most important video game events, the Fun & Serious Game Festival. Since its release in the summer, it has been a consistent winner, even though the sequel to the first instalment was more than 15 years in the making.

In its 11th edition, the video game festival is back at the BEC in Baracaldo, with Tim Schafer, executive producer of Back 4 Blood, Lianne Papp, Mauricio García from The Game Kitchen, Marina González from Deconstructeam and Arturo Monedero from TLR Games, among others.

“Running an indie game studio comes with a lot of fun and freedom, but also a lot of night terrors and existential dread when you wonder every day if you’re going to close next month,” Schafer admitted in his presentation. The Psychonauts 2 director also noted that his favourite part of the job is inventing new worlds.

“That’s really what we do; creating new worlds,” Schafer explained.
