Quantic Dream’s Star Wars Eclipse Will Not Arrive Until 3-4 Years

A reliable source has shared details of the new Quantic Dream game announced at The Game Awards 2021

The early hours of Thursday morning left us with a multitude of announcements. Some of them, such as Star Wars Eclipse, came as a surprise to those of us who were following the event because, although we knew that Quantic Dream was making a Star Wars game, we weren’t expecting such an eye-catching presentation.

While the studio has revealed little else about the game, journalist Tom Henderson has been sharing first-hand information about the game on social media. He’s pretty much always a reliable source, so if we’re to take his word for it, development is likely to take another 3-4 years at least.

It will go on for a long time is not surprising given that the company is currently recruiting, with more than 60 job openings in France and nine in Canada. In addition, Henderson has said that David Cage is very involved. He is known for bringing a solid auteur component to the games and is reportedly working with the Quantic Dream Paris team on the script, which will have considerable weight.

Officially, we still don’t know much about the Star Wars title, but we do know that it will be an action-adventure game with a strong narrative and importance in the decisions we make, so we could expect a more interactive title than the studio’s previous ones, as well as more freedom and possibilities are given the magnitude of the project. It will be set in the era of the High Republic, and the game will take place in an unexplored region.

Beyond this Eclipse for PC, PS5 and Xbox X Series X|S, there are other Star Wars projects related to video games. The KOTOR remake has already been announced, but we have yet to see what Ubisoft, which has revealed very little about its new game in the franchise developed by Massive, has in store.
