Splitgate Profits From The Success Of Halo Infinite: With Master Chief’s Return, PlayStation Users Have Also Increased

According to the CEO of 1047 Games, Splitgate will introduce the shooter idea to players who have never played Halo or Quake.

 

 

Many games in the shooter genre have inspired Splitgate: Arena Warfare and the developers themselves don’t deny it. A title that, with its Halo and Portal fusion, managed to win over 10 million players in open beta. But Master Chief is having such a significant impact on the industry that it’s reflected in the game’s player traffic.

As the CEO of 1047 Games confirms in The Loadout, the launch of the Halo Infinite campaign has seen a surge in PlayStation players: “I’m actually glad [Halo Infinite] is out. I honestly think that, in the long run, Halo Infinite and Splitgate will help each other,” explains Ian Proulx, the developer’s CEO. “I think that there’s just so much noise and so many battle royales right now, and [these two games] are bringing people over to the arena shooter genre.”

After all, Splitgate was born out of all the shooters we grew up playing as gamers: “You know, there’s a lot of kids who have never played Halo, right? There’s a lot of kids who have never played Quake or Unreal Tournament. They’ve never played this kind of game. And getting them exposure to that I think is just a good thing for the genre as a whole.”

As for the game itself, 1047 Games has big plans for the shooter craze, with a more optimised version in the works for Xbox Series and PS5, as well as plans to bring the game to Nintendo Switch and mobile.
