Star Wars: Eclipse: Do We Have A Release Date?

This time, David Cage’s next game will be based on a significant license, so expectations are not low…

Many of you may already know Quantic Dream from Fahrenheit (or Indigo Prophecy if you’re from North America), Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls or Detroit: Become Human, whose working environment doesn’t seem to be very clean (the French press has written about this in a revealing way, but there were some cases where investigative journalism was not entirely fair, so Cage won in court…), and we also wrote a while ago that it may have been one of the reasons why there were problems with the studio’s staffing.

So it had previously looked like the Star Wars license LucasFilm Games left with the French studio would be a bit of a struggle to get off the ground. Still, now we’re hearing a slightly more optimistic rumour from AccountNGT (who had already released images of the game before the announcement of Star Wars: Eclipse at The Game Awards), who seems to be an insider around the studio. First, they tweeted that they’d gotten new confirmation on the Dark Sorcerer game (a project based on their tech demo) they reported on a few months ago but that the studio’s next game would still be Star Wars-related. The development is going much better than we’d previously thought.

They added that Quantic Dream started development in early 2021, so they’ve been hard at work for more than a year on Star Wars: Eclipse, which they said will be released in 2025. A four-year development cycle is a bit long when you consider that three years passed between Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, but that’s offset because Detroit: Become Human was released nearly five years after that…

All this is not official, but if it will be available in 2025 (most likely for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC, because LucasFilm Games is likely expecting a multiplatform release from the French studio!), there will be a gap of seven years after their android-themed game (and between 2018 and 2021, they didn’t develop much, it seems…).
