Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Gets a Boost with PlayStation 5 Pro Enhancements!

Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts have tweaked the game a bit to give it a decent performance and visual experience on Sony’s half-generation console update.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has received its tenth update. This one is focused on the PlayStation 5 Pro, according to the game’s subreddit. The developers have updated the technology to use the latest PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution), meaning Sony’s upscaler is now the latest version. The foliage flickered in a rather distracting way on Sony’s half-generation model, but the developers have managed to get around that bug as well.

The quality of the reflection on the Koboh River has been improved, so if you look at the river now, you’ll get a nicer view. Respawn Entertainment also tweaked the volumetric fog, which tended to flicker on the PlayStation 5 Pro, but the tenth update for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor also fixed that. That’s what was posted on Reddit, so this update was really focused on the more powerful PlayStation 5. However, many people on Reddit have brought up bugs that still exist in Respawn’s game, but they don’t seem to be able (or willing?) to fix them. If we were to make a list of them, it would be quite long…

Among the PlayStation 5 Pro supported games available so far, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the frontrunner, and Silent Hill 2 Remake is also at the bottom of the list. The main reason Respawn’s game scored so low was that it used an older version of the PSSR that did not handle a number of visual elements properly. However, other games have made excellent use of AI-based scaling (God of War: Ragnarök, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth), showing that under the right conditions and with the right implementation, it can still deliver great results, even if the technology still has room for improvement!

After Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a third installment is already in the pipeline, as Respawn has confirmed (we wrote about it before).
