State of Play: What to Expect from Sony’s in 2025?

Sony is still very tight-lipped about what it plans to do in 2025, but that could change soon.

On Twitter, a trusted insider, Nate the Hate (who often reports on more things related to the gaming industry before official announcements) wrote that State of Play is coming in February, but in response to a question he was able to clarify this and he says that Sony’s online event will be the week of February 10. So we can expect it sometime next week.

This is also in line with Sony’s strategy, as the company usually holds its first State of Play event of the year in January or February, and it is usually at this event that Sony confirms what games it plans to release in the first six months of the year.Last January’s State of Play gave us a deeper look at Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, but we also got to see a few other games (Silent Hill 2 Remake, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach). The year before last, there was a State of Play in February, but it focused on third-party titles, so we got to see Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Suicide Squad:Kill the Justice League.

Sony only confirmed two games for release in 2025 (Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Ghost of Yotei). We still don’t know when Marvel’s Wolverine will be released, nor Fairgames, and after that we can’t really expect Bungie to announce more about the Marathon reboot this year. For this reason, it would be perfectly understandable for Sony to focus on internally developed first-party games during the coverage.

The State of Play is not official yet, so we’ll have to wait for Sony to confirm if there will be one, but it’s about time.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
