Battlefield: The Exciting New Game Is Coming Soon!

Electronic Arts has placed a big bet on the new Battlefield, and the publisher has been able to narrow down the release date a bit, and you can guess when exactly it will reach players…

In its quarterly financial report, the publisher also talked about the status of Battlefield beyond Dragon Age: The Veilguard (which we covered in today’s news). According to Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson, the new episode will be released in fiscal year 2026. EA’s fiscal year starts on April 1st, so the game should arrive by the end of March 2026 at the latest, but since Battlefield traditionally launches in the fall, we’d put the release date in the fall of this year…

Sounds logical. On Monday, Electronic Arts unveiled Battlefield Labs, a program that covers the testing process of the game, and based on the little gameplay footage, it looks a lot like Battlefield 3. After the poor initial reception of Battlefield 2042, it’s no coincidence that the publisher decided to follow the style of Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 with the yet-to-be-named episode, and considering that the franchise was at its peak at the time, the publisher’s decision makes sense.

“We have more invested in this Battlefield than any other Battlefield. We have four studios [working on it: DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive, and Criterion]. We’ve had a significant amount of time. We want this to be the biggest Battlefield we’ve ever made. There is some trepidation in the core community about what this Battlefield is going to be. Battlefield is this incredible franchise, on an incredible scale, with destruction and vehicles and all sorts of things, and it is loved by the community. The last two iterations of Battlefield have not resonated as strongly and have been found wanting by significant parts of the community around the world. And so we appreciate and understand that there’s some trepidation there, and this development team, the largest development team we’ve ever had, is committed to working very closely with our players to make sure that they understand what we’re doing, that they’re feeding into the tuning and balancing of this game at scale,” Wilson said in response to a question about the reception of Battlefield Labs.

Let’s wait for more information about this new episode!
