We didn’t see this coming, but the open-world RPG that STALKER fans have been eagerly awaiting is now available in early access. Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone was originally scheduled for 2025, but The Farm 51 has decided to speed things up.
Among the many games inspired by STALKER, one that arrived late but still won over players is Chernobylite. Originally released in early access in 2019 before getting a full launch two years later, the game is now receiving a sequel. Although The Farm 51 previously hinted at a 2025 release for its new open-world entry, the wait won’t be nearly as long. Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is launching in just a month.
Launching in Early Access, Just Like the First Game
As with its predecessor, Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone will first be available in early access on Steam, with a planned full release within one to two years—mirroring the trajectory of the original 2019 shooter. The developers promise that even this first version will offer a compelling experience, largely thanks to the game’s strong support on Kickstarter.
In January, The Farm 51 announced a crowdfunding campaign alongside the early access launch to help expand the game’s content. The studio clarified that Chernobylite 2 does not rely on Kickstarter funding, as development is already well underway with solid financial backing. Instead, the funds raised will be used to introduce additional features, such as importing weapons from the first game and the ability to switch between first- and third-person perspectives at will.
The campaign has been a resounding success. In less than a month, Chernobylite 2’s Kickstarter has surpassed its initial goal of €98,678 by an impressive 170%, reaching €168,400 at the time of writing. This funding boost has allowed the developers to significantly expand their goals for the game.
With its early access release now just a month away, Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone aims to deliver an even more immersive and challenging experience. Players eager to try it before its official release can support the project on Kickstarter and gain access to beta versions and exclusive demo builds as rewards.
