After receiving more negative than positive feedback on its beta version, Tripwire Interactive has decided to delay the release of its horror FPS.
Killing Floor III is the next chapter in the legendary co-op action/horror FPS saga. Set in the year 2091—70 years after the events of Killing Floor 2—megacorp Horzine has built the ultimate army: a horde of obedient bio-engineered monsters known as Zeds. The only line of defense between these abominations and humanity’s future is a rogue group called Nightfall.
This intense first-person shooter casts players as Nightfall specialists, fighting alongside up to five teammates in a dystopian future ravaged by war. Together, they’ll survive relentless Zed waves, unlock new skills, and craft the ultimate arsenal.
Cross-play Carnage and Smarter Zeds
Build the ultimate Zed-slaying squad in frantic six-player co-op with full cross-play support across all platforms. Skilled fighters can also go solo in tense single-player missions. Players will face the most lethal Zeds ever: redesigned enemies with enhanced movement, advanced attack behavior, and sharper AI make them faster, deadlier, and more tactical than ever before.
Flamethrowers, shotguns, katanas—players will wield an extensive and fully customizable arsenal with hundreds of mods, gadgets, and skills to match their style of carnage. They’ll enter various dangerous hot zones to stop the outbreak’s spread. Interactive environments provide strategic advantages through turrets, fans, and traps. The M.E.A.T. system is back, offering more realistic gore with extra dismemberment points and persistent blood that reacts grotesquely to every blow.
Why the Delay?
“Since delaying the launch of Killing Floor III, we’ve dedicated the additional development time to responding to the community’s feedback, ensuring the next chapter in the beloved cult action/horror franchise lives up to our shared vision. The support from our fans has been incredible. With the new July 24 release date in sight, we’re thrilled to bring that vision not just to players at launch but also through continued support with new features and content, which is a hallmark of our studio,” wrote Bryan Wyrnia, creative director at Tripwire Interactive, in the press release.
Killing Floor III launches on July 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
