How much time needs to pass for an in-game day-night cycle? Can we play Grand Theft Auto-style? Here are the answers.
Australian Press Start talked about the Japanese version of Cyberpunk 2077, which will have some modifications. The nude characters in the West will wear underwear in the East (even during character creation), and the sexually explicit scenes will be revised, and this also applies to the severing of body parts. The gore in combat will be reduced. Every billboard and graffiti that are shaped/related to genitalia will be wiped. That’s all we know of the Japanese version for now. (They will likely also pixelate the genitalia and the sexual intercourses, as that is a trend there. But then, what’s the point of the five types of pubic hair?)
On Reddit, someone calculated how much time will be needed to see a day pass in Cyberpunk 2077. Three real-life hours equals twenty-four in the first-person action-RPG. That’s nearly twice as slow as The Witcher 3, where a cycle happened in 1 hour and 36 minutes. Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V are faster: there, you need 48 minutes for a day (which is half the time of The Witcher 3, and slightly more than 25% of Cyberpunk 2077).
„If you want to go out on a rampage and have no remorse, then you have got the option, and that’s fine with us. However, once you start to play the missions and see the number of options you have, I think that will make players stop and think a little bit before doing something reckless. We’ve seen a lot of people default to that ‘GTA mode’ and then after a little bit they realise how many things are different and adjust how they play,” Max Pears, one of the level designers of Cyberpunk 2077, told PCGamesN. However, we have yet to see if you can kill story-related NPCs in this game. In Grand Theft Auto, the mission either automatically fails, or you can’t kill them altogether.
Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on November 19 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The Google Stadia, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X trio will receive the game at a later date.
