Is Respawn Entertainment working On A New IP?

The studio that went through a significant evolution through the next console generation seems to prepare for something new.

After 2014’s Titanfall, the sequel came two years later, which did get critically acclaimed, but it was published too close to Battlefield 1, which is why Titanfall 2 didn’t sell that well. It was followed by Apex Legends with reasonable success, which can’t be said about the recently released Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond (VR title), but last year’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order prove to Electronic Arts that single-player games still have a reasonable number of players, as proven by its sales.

While the new, Vancouver-based studio is working on Apex Legends, there were rumours about a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, and now, a job listing mentions that they are looking for a „small” team to develop „a brand new IP,” and the new applicant would help to create technologies that will enable „adventuring forever,” which sounds like they are potentially developing another live service title like Apex Legends, which also started with a reasonably small group of developers. Still, it’s somewhat safe to guess that Respawn is capable of working on multiple IPs simultaneously (except for the new Medal of Honor, which could have been… better).

Unfortunately, it’s not Titanfall 3. Here’s what Vince Zampella (head of Respawn who now also heads EA DICE…) had to say: „There’s nothing currently in development. But it’s always there. You see the little bits of stuff coming back through the lore in Apex Legends. At some point, I would personally like to see some kind of resurrection there. We’ll see if I can make that happen.”

We have to wait until Respawn announces what the team is developing, but it’s not bold to say it’ll likely be something new.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
