The new version of Horizon Zero Dawn (which has replaced the previous Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition) hasn’t escaped what could be described as an awkward launch on PC.
A look at Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered’s Steam page reveals that the remastered version (which doesn’t make much sense on PC, by the way) from Guerrilla Games and Nixxes Software, released a few days ago, currently has 515 reviews, putting it in the Mixed category on Gabe Newell’s digital platform. On the one hand, this is a rather low number of reviews (we wouldn’t be surprised if sales weren’t very good), and on the other hand, it shows that the quality of the port is not perfect.
There are a lot of complaints about bugs and sound glitches, and of course many people don’t like the fact that the remaster includes the obligatory PlayStation Network account. Some on Reddit say that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered could at least use a patch or two. During cutscenes it stutters or even hangs, the sound mixing in the first city was not good (weird reverb with NPC dialog and sound effects). Some objects float, the clothing graphics glitch in places, and while these don’t detract from the experience, they may need to be fixed.
Really enjoying the remaster, but it def needs a patch or two.

PSA about sound issues after cutscenes on Windows

There are several pre-rendered cutscenes where if you pause them, press the Windows key, and then open the sound mixer on the taskbar, you’ll notice that the volume in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered has been lowered to about 30%. This is an annoying sound bug in the game, and almost everyone has reported it on either Reddit or Steam, so it’s not a one-off. Others have reported freaking out or controller issues. Most of the criticism, of course, has been about the mandatory PSN account, which seems completely incomprehensible for a single-player title. However, a solution has been found by adding the “-showlinkingqr” criterion to the startup options, which allows you to skip the PlayStation Network account link.
Still, it’s becoming more and more common for Sony’s PC ports to appear in less than perfect condition.
