Crysis 4 is officially on its way, according to a statement Wednesday from developer Crytek
Following the leak of the first image of Crysis 4, Crytek has officially confirmed that the next instalment in the first-person shooter series is in development. From what we’ve seen so far, the new chapter could be even darker than the original trilogy.
Crytek released the announcement trailer on YouTube today. “It’s time to join the journey and be the hero,” the reveal says, showing us some vague footage of nanoparticles and destroyed buildings. The Nanosuit helmet can also be seen lying on the ground amidst the ruins. Little is known about Crysis 4 at the moment, apart from the confirmation that the series’ signature Nanosuit, which grants you extraordinary combat abilities, will be making a return.
As for a release date, Crytek CEO Avni Yerli says that “right now the game is in the early stages of development, so it will be a while yet”. Yerli also said that “the team is working hard to deliver a truly next-gen shooter”, which means we can expect to see more of the stunning visuals the series is known for.
The studio intends to listen to the community as the development of the project progresses to ensure that “the next instalment of the franchise lives up to their expectations”. As the team explains, “Crysis is incredibly important to a lot of people”, and the developers “can’t wait to reveal more details about what’s in store”.
The Crysis series began in 2007 and received two sequels. The trilogy recently received a remaster, launching last October across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch. The package only includes the single-player story campaigns, with no multiplayer available to players.
